What changed on LinkedIn in 2022?

It’s been a big year on LinkedIn in terms of developments for the social media platform.

Today, with more than 875 million members in more than 200 countries and territories worldwide, we welcomed over 70 new features to LinkedIn.

Here are just some of the changes to LinkedIn in 2022, starting with personal profiles ...

Personal profiles are key in the LinkedIn landscape and your digital first impression. When someone googles your name, your LinkedIn profile will typically be returned high in the search results. ?

Here are some of the changes to LinkedIn personal profiles:

  • Do you have LinkedIn Newsletter??Add your Newsletter to your Featured section so that profile visitors can subscribe and share easily.

  • If you have creator mode on, you can customise a link (for example to another website) in the header section of your profile.

In addition to this, the newly introduced "Creator Analytics" provides members with the ability to access deeper analytics on their content activity.

  • When you are on a profile, the “Follow Back” option lets you know if that profile follows you, and you can follow them back .
  • You can now also find the ‘About this Profile’ option. This gives you more information to support the authenticity of accounts. It lets you know when a member joined the platform, updated their contact details or photo, and if they have verified emails or phone numbers with LinkedIn.
  • You can add skills to specific experiences.

And it’s not just the personal profiles that have seen changes, so have company pages:

Example of feature committments

  • If you are interested in opportunities at particular businesses, you can now create a job alert from the company page.
  • A company page can now share "featured commitments". This is enables employers to showcase 5 values to the community.
  • The introduction of the Lead Gen Form allows a collection point of?leads from members who visit your LinkedIn company Page.
  • A well overdue feature, employee verification is rolling out to all page admins. This allows them to fight fake employees attaching to company pages in their current work experience. LinkedIn tested this feature with a few large companies in October 2022.
  • You can subscribe to company page content. This allows members who choose to follow a company, to also get notifications when they post content.
  • For company page admins, the "Activity Filter" allows company page admins the ability to filter activity by Requests, Comments, Mentions, Posts, Reposts, Reactions and Analytics making it easier to engage.

And in relation to content creation:

The option to schedule in LinkedIn

  • The option to schedule post live on LinkedIn is rolling out. This will allow content creators and company page admins to manage their platform presence, with a native, in-stream scheduling option.
  • From a mobile device, members can create their post based on templates and customise its colours, font and text within the LinkedIn app. You can also add clickable link to a post image or video posts.
  • In addition, you can now comment and react as your company on your posts.
  • For those using video, auto captions are being added to videos uploaded directly onto LinkedIn.
  • If you tag members or companies in articles or newsletters, they are?now alerted by notification.
  • The newly introduced pinned comments allows you to pin a comment to the top off a post permanently. This can help guide the conversation and share links.

And across the broader LinkedIn Landscape:

  • Overwhelmed by LinkedIn messages? The focused Inbox intelligently pre-sorts your messages by placing the most important in Focused mailbox and the rest in ‘Other’ and gives us the opportunity to reclassify.
  • The Events page redesign makes it easier to find your events (both Live and Audio Events).
  • Got a question for a group? #QuestionForGroup - when using this hashtag inside a Group, the post will be tagged at the top.
