JAN FEB MAR APR MAY
We have five months till prelims, and 3 months later for Quant and English again. Target should be, to maximise score in prelims and to finish entire syllabus of english and quant before prelims and mark important questions from books and previous year papers, so mains preparation will go smooth.
TCS papers important for CGL 2020: CGL CHSL CPO 2018 2019
1. Reasoning: Previous years are enough. If you have a book, you can do that too. This section is really scoring, 50/50 is always possible.
2. GS: Since syllabus is vast, I would advise selective reading based on the weightage given to subjects/topics by TCS. You should do this kind of analysis for TCS GS section, I may have missed something. Decide your priorities and pick your sources accordingly.
3. English: In prelims, Vocab has a really high weightage( 20+ marks). You should finish vocab from your book and TCS papers. I have also shared a list of important vocab: I may add some words to this list to make it more comprehensive. This list is important, but not enough.
You can expect a cloze test in your paper since a cloze test has been asked in prelims 18 and 19. For that, you need strong grammar and vocab. Make sure you prepare both thoroughly. 2 questions may be asked from active passive+ direct indirect, finish these two chapters diligently now, you will reap the benefits in mains where 45 questions will be asked from these two chapters. Vocab is time consuming and monotonous, but really scoring once you get a hold of it. English is a scoring section, take full advantage of it.
4. Quant: After finishing your chapters from books/notes and practicing chapter wise exercise, move on to previous year papers and practice questions in a mixed format. Every shift of prelims will provide you a set of 25 questions. TCS quant is the most important part of quant preparation now. Keep calculation skills strong and fast.
5. Mocks: Best mocks for prelims are undoubtedly CGL 18 prelims papers. After completing chapter wise preparation and practicing mix questions from previous year, you can attempt mocks of a test series or CGL 18 prelims or both. It's your choice, atleast 20–30 prelims mocks should be attempted. If TCS papers aren’t enough, you can also add papers of CGL 16 and 17 for practice.
One book each is enough for advance, arithmetic, vocab, grammar. Revision is the key, as always. TCS papers should be your priority after completing your books. I hope they continue to ask the questions on same pattern they have till now ( calculative, rather than conceptual ). Good thing about a calculative quant paper is, if you have enough time or fast calculation skills, you can attempt all the questions. Work on your calculation skills and vocab daily. You will get the benefit of this hard work in mains too.
After prelims, we will discuss in detail about what to do for mains. In those three months before mains, you can re-visit every nook and corner of English and Quant and score amazing marks !!! Just clear prelims with good enough marks to keep you motivated !!
