What is Capsule Wardrobe and Why?

A “capsule wardrobe” is one of those buzzwords we’ve all been hearing about for a while now. The term was originally coined in the 1970s by British boutique owner Susie Faux, after she used the idea to help women refine their wardrobes to only include high-quality essentials that could be worn interchangeably.
The number of items should be included in the capsule wardrobe varies (Capsule Wardrobe police might disagree) but an average number is said to be around 25. The truth is, the number isn't critical as we all have different preferences and lifestyles. The idea is to make sure that you have a wardrobe full of well-made items that suit and fit you properly and aren't considered disposable.
We're ever more aware and keen to live a life that is more sustainable and eager to simplify our busy lives, it seems we are more open than ever to the concept. Here're the three main benefits I can see from a capsule wardrobe.
- Figure out what you truly love
When you limit the numbers of clothes you can buy you have to make choices on what you really want to keep in your life. In the process, you'll discover what you truly love and who you truly are. You'll also discover and build a wardrobe with your best colours and style because you've decided you only have room for the best. Imagine every time when you get dressed, all you see is what you truly love?
- Reduce decision fatigue
Deciding what to wear requires mental energy better spent on other things. When you built your capsule wardrobe framework it makes shopping and getting dressed in the mornings infinitely easier. You get to wear your favourite outfits everyday.
3. Creating better environment for your home and the planet
A capsule wardrobe is a clutter free wardrobe that only contains the good quality clothes that suits you. You'll have little time and space to breathe. You'll stop buying cheap disposable clothing that is harmful for the planet and unethically sourced.
If you need a professional to help you to get there faster with confidence, I'm here to help you discover your best colours, fits and styles so that you can create your forever wardrobe with ease and grace.
