What can you see?

What can you see?

In 2023, I heard one of the greatest definitions of visionary leadership: “Visionary leadership is the ability to see the possibility of a future and do the work it takes to get to the future you see.”

So, the first question for anyone trying to create an impact or solve a problem should be, “What do you see?”

Let me tell you what I see.

I see decision-making bodies convening to make decisions for the betterment of lives and society. When I look closely at the members of those bodies, I see a blind man speaking confidently, contributing his knowledge and expertise to the conversation because he was exposed to the quality of education that prepared him for the future he was destined for.

I see a board of directors strategizing on the direction of their fashion organization. Sitting on that board, with years of experience, knowledge, and expertise, is a deaf woman. Quality education helped her realize that she was placed on this earth to use her unique eye for detail, her love for fashion and color, and her attention to problem-solving in the fashion sector, and that her disability didn’t mean she couldn’t live out her purpose.

I see a government official making strategic, impactful decisions. This man grew up with learning disabilities but was exposed to inclusive education that tailored learning to his needs. It didn’t label him “too slow” or “not intelligent enough” but nurtured his critical and strategic thinking skills. Today, he fulfills his purpose of making complex problems simple to solve.

I see quality education fulfilling its purpose, which is to help every individual accomplish theirs. I am contributing to this by taking the necessary steps to bring this future to life.

This is what visionary leadership is all about.

I want you to contribute to this work. Read how here.

I see workplaces where the vast creative skills of those with learning disabilities are being utilized and they are able to make a living for themselves. I see conferences where young men and women who grew up in the most unprivileged areas of the world grace the stage and take the audience on a journey of self determination and grit. I see institutions where Dyslexic thinking is applied and creating mind blowing results
