What can you do today?

What can you do today?

If you know me, you know I love to laugh and make others laugh as well. I love being around people and seeing them happy and having fun. Unfortunately, today the world is a lot different, and many things may prevent us from laughing and having fun, but one thing we can do, even in isolation, is to bring a smile to someone's face. So, here is where we are:

It's Friday and has been another week of Coronavirus, quarantine, isolation, layoffs, furloughs, and stay in place for many of us. So today, let's share some good news: You have been able to spend more time with your family by eating meals together, helping with their school work, and looking for things at home to do together. In other words, you have turned into a real family again. You say we already did that, and that's great, but many did not so smile for them and accept that good news.

Many lost family members today, some lost their jobs and can't pay their rent or buy food. If you are not one of them, count your blessings, and be thankful for today. It doesn't mean that we might not eventually be in that same situation, but we aren't there right now. Live for today; we have never had a promise of tomorrow, although we always look forward to a new day. Nothing is guaranteed, and we are not exempt.

Find some way today to make someone else smile. You will be surprised how your outlook will change when you make a call to some older adult who has no family to check on them. How about a family you know who may not have food or access to funds to provide their needs? Can you help, or do you know how to direct them to help that is available for them? Do you have a way to help with their children? How about toys, or is there anything they need? Can you order food for them and have them pick it up? I know it's hard to do online because everyone is doing it - so use your imagination. What can you do, and how can you do it?

Today is your day to be a blessing to others. Take the time to do so, even if it is one single phone call to someone you know who needs to know that you thought about them and want to make sure they are ok.

You have probably already read words similar to this, but it hasn't prompted you to do anything, so you may ask why I chose to write these words today. Well, these words were written just for you!
