While the World is in convulsion due to war, inflation, and the rebirth of the pandemic, and as we run from crisis to crisis (energy, food and water), including extreme weather events due to climate change, Christmas is around the corner. This time of the year should be a time for peace, love, joy, and generosity. Is the Christmas spirit slowly dying? Or is it dead already? Can it be reborn? Well, let us see.
Christmas is approaching. Like every year, we are in a frenzy and feel an energy we cannot explain. Joy invades us. We run from place to place, buying presents and gifts, visiting friends and family, and getting stuck in traffic. Busy as ever. At the same time, we prepare for the Christmas family dinners and lunches that mark the season to commemorate the birth of Jesus Christ, who is considered the Son of God and a central figure in Christianity. Traditionally it is observed on December 25th in many parts of the World. Although Christians Ortodoxes celebrate it on January 7th, Muslims and Jews do not celebrate Christmas as it has no religious significance. It is a time for us to come together and celebrate with family and friends, despite our religion, race, gender, sex, and sexual orientation.
The holiday season is associated with many customs and traditions passed from grandparents to grandchildren that try to keep the holiday spirit alive from generation to generation, such as giving and receiving gifts, decorating Christmas trees, singing carols, and attending church services. Children still believe in Santa and write a letter to him with wishes that fuel their imagination, waiting anxiously for what he will bring to them. It is a happy time for some, but not for all. It is also a time for people to reflect on the values of love, generosity, and kindness and to remember the teachings of Jesus. The World is travelling at such a speed, and life is rushing that we tend to forget these. Love, generosity, kindness, peace and hope are how we keep the spirit alive, and you can take a crucial role in it.
There Are Many Ways That You Live the Spirit With Others:
Closing Thought
In addition to its religious significance, Christmas has become a cultural celebration that people of all backgrounds enjoy, regardless of their religious beliefs. It is a time for people to come together and share in the joy and spirit of the season. It is time to put empathy into action by being compassionate.
