What can you do to create a gender inclusive world?
What I like about this year's International Women's Day campaign is that it's about taking action. It's not just "liking" the movement or pledging your support, but identifying what you will do...and doing it. Demolishing stereotypes and righting pay gaps will take time (shockingly we might not see this until 2186!), but taking a junior female colleague to a major meeting or event or even just hailing the success of a woman you know are actions that you can take now.
At GE I happen to be on a team of working mothers who embrace inclusion, and understand fully what it takes to commit themselves both to their work and to their families. In this environment this means I don't have to sneak out of the office to attend a school performance, and feel empowered to rejigger my schedule when I get "the call" to pick up a sick kid from school or daycare. To me reinforcing a flexible work environment is a bold action, and I applaud everyone who supports the advancement of women.
How will you #BeBoldforChange?
