What can we learn from Ed Sheeran

What can we learn from Ed Sheeran

I'm writing this post after seeing Ed Sheeran at the weekend.?

He is phenomenal.?

He was a pleasure to watch.?

But after getting home, I thought about what I had just seen. It made me realise that for him to get to that level, he has put in thousands of hours to perfect his craft.?

  • He started singing in the choir at the age of 4.
  • He started playing the guitar at 11.?
  • He moved to London in 2008 and started busking.?
  • He auctioned for Britannia High at the age of just 16-years-old

He is now 31 years.?

He has 27 years' worth of practice under his belt.?

Over those 27 years of practice, he has;

  • Repeatedly failed.?
  • Been rejected.?
  • Played to tiny, tiny crowds.?

Yet he kept perfecting his craft.?

So why do we expect results and perfection after a couple of hours?

Why do we give up after failing once?

Results and reaching our goals take time.?

Stop expecting to reach your goals now.?

Consistency is what will help you reach your goals.?

Keep plucking away at reaching your goal.

Don't give up. Failure will happen. Learn from it and keep trying to move forward.

Great post Ed. No matter what field of work or play we are in, the old story of 10,000 hours of practice is as true today as it ever was.
