What can we learn from David Bowie?

Anyone with an interest in popular music and anyone around from the seventies onwards will have been stunned by today's news of Bowie's untimely death. A visionary who was far more than a rock star; he shaped so many aspects of artistic culture .

I think there is real learning in taking from his stance the confidence to innovate and not just to do what is expected of us.  Could we re-invent ourselves and offer more than we have become? 

Bowie also refused to stay pigeon-holed in just music, spreading his talent and influence in Art, Theatre, Film and Fashion. In business we tend to carry on delivering against the things we build a reputation for while ignoring those areas we could easily  adapt to or  transmute to. This is not just about extra profit opportunities; it is about really looking at your skill and expertise and seeing how others could benefit.

Lets all be heroes.
