Nurses are recognised as one of the most trusted profession. In Singapore, nurses formed the largest professional group in the healthcare workforce, and there are more than 40,000 nurses registered with the Singapore Nursing Board.
According to the Singapore Ministry of Manpower’s 2020 report, the number of nursing job vacancies were the hardest PME (professionals, managerial and executive) positions to fill. These jobs made up the biggest number of vacancies unfilled for at least six (6) months.
The nursing positions are in high demand, especially with the growing ageing population in Singapore.

Enrolled Nurse (EN)
As an Enrolled Nurse, you will engage more in the clients’ activities of daily living (ADLs) and assist the Registered Nurse for all delegated activities) . You will practice within a healthcare organization endorsed scope of practice, policies, and procedures.
Your job scope includes: admission, transfer and discharge of patients; patient care activities (e.g. observing, monitoring and reporting of patients’ conditions and progress, escalate and notify Registered Nurses of all unusual and/or untoward observations or happenings); preparation of trolleys and equipment for ward-based procedures (e.g. blood culture, lumbar puncture etc); and provide perioperative care (e.g. preoperative preparation, sending and receiving patients from operating theatres).
Registered Nurse (RN)
As a Registered Nurse, you will provide a high standard of care through assessment, planning, implementation and evaluation. You will be responsible for delivering patient-centric and compassionate care according to patients’ needs, including educating patients and their families.
Your job scope includes: monitor patient’s conditions, symptoms, interpret laboratory/ radiology reports and timely escalate any abnormalities to the doctors. Besides the doctors, the Registered Nurse work closely with other allied health members including therapists, dietitians and radiographers in order to provide holistic care; The role of the nurse is not limited to nursing, a nurse also acts as a counsellor, educator, researcher and patient advocate; and assist doctors and attend to emergency whenever necessary.
