What can Halloween ?? teach you about your beliefs?

What can Halloween ?? teach you about your beliefs?

I couldn’t put out today’s email without talking about Halloween. ??

And as I was doing my research I noticed the very different associations that surround Halloween:

  • There are those who still celebrate in traditional Gaelic Festivals.
  • TV Screens are filled with Creepy Horror Films.
  • Our children celebrate by dressing up and going trick-or-treating.

Because we all have different beliefs:

  • The belief in the historic origins and traditions.
  • The belief in the association to the dead and spirits.
  • The belief in the modern tradition of an evening of family fun.

No one belief is more valid than another – our beliefs are how we choose to view ourselves, others and the world around us.

What beliefs do you have that you take into the workplace?

  • Do you believe that you have interesting ideas that people want to hear?

OR

  • Do you believe that your opinions aren’t as important, clever, interesting as the opinions of other people in the room?

?

  • Do you believe that you don’t have what it takes to become the next CEO of corporate x?

OR

  • Do you believe that you can achieve anything with the right help and support?

Your beliefs guide your actions.

  • If you believe you can't – then you won’t.
  • If you believe you’re not clever enough – you won’t try.
  • If you believe you're not confident – you’ll hold yourself back.

Why not try a different way of thinking:

  • Believe that you can with the right training, help and support.
  • Believe that you're clever enough to learn.
  • Believe that you can grow in confidence.

This Halloween why not take a moment to reflect on what you believe in and decide whether that belief is serving you well or if it’s time to ditch it for a new, more empowering belief.

PS - If you struggle to know how your beliefs are influencing your behaviours – my 5 Steps to Greater Confidence Training is embedded in the communication course - https://www.juliecullen.co.uk/speak-with-confidence .

Module 1 takes you through a series of videos and workbooks designed to help you let go of the beliefs and behaviours that are holding you back, and teaches you to adopt new, more empowering beliefs and habits.
