What can be a better product for me than ChatGPT?
TL;DR: I think it's (an upgraded version of) Google Assistant. Because as an Android user, I already gave it all my preferences and personal data (I’m the product being sold, I know!). I would pay for it as much as I would pay for ChatGPT to keep my data private (take my money, don’t sell me) and have an assistant/coach that is smart, fast, have knowledge about everything in the world, knows almost everything about me, and can keep its mouth shut about what it knows.?
So ChatGpt took the world by storm, I'm using it every day now, it helps reduce so much time on tasks like researching, comparing stuff, or analyzing and summarizing load of texts. In fact, its power is one of the reasons we’ve just migrated CoderPush 's internal documenting platform from Slide to Coda (there’s a ChatGPT Coda pack that we plan to use since we generate A LOT of text at our company from meetings, 1-1, project documents and so much more).
Just now Google released an article about Bard (supposedly ChatGPT competitor) and while it didn’t help the company stock ($100B disappeared since the announcement of Bard ??), it surely helped remind me that Google actually has a Bot powered by AI that I have been using EVERYDAY since like 6 years ago. It’s Google Assistant - the “simple” app that almost all Android users have on their device (not sure how many % actually use it though?)
Since I have a Google Mini at home that helps control several devices such as lights, TV, air conditioning etc.. my kids were familiar with asking “Miss Google” to do simple tasks like “count down 30 minutes”, “turn off the TV”, “how’s the weather?” from a young age.
Now that they are in school and start having homework, they would ask for knowledge stuff like “do ants have brains?” and Google Assistant has been helpful in providing answers and follow-up info

For me, Google Assistant has been very limited in supporting work, only simple stuff like “remind me to checkout blah blah” or “wake me up in 15 minutes”, not much contribution to the labor-intense works like researching, finding patterns in a chunk of text or quickly draw a table comparing different tools. The features that GA satisfied me the most were “silent” assisting tasks like:
All of that was made possible due to the fact that I’m immersed in the Google Ecosystem, giving it all the data that it needs to serve me (and to sell me as an ads target and who knows what else, but that’s ok for now). Switching away from this environment means a switch in work and life routines set up that I’m so not ready for (not to mention I don’t see suitable alternative options yet)
While ChatGPT is undoubtedly the best at what it does, it requires me to spend time writing the correct prompt to provide context (most of which are available in all the texts I have in my emails, Google docs, Keep notes, and contact list). While I will probably pay the $20 monthly bill for ChatGPT Plus soon, I can imagine it would be a no-brainer to pay Google the same or maybe more to have the same capability (and stop selling me as a product you ??hole). Given that it knows my preference, where I am, my daily routine, my writing style, I can imagine the same tasks that I give ChatGPT can be reduced to just a few word prompts.
For a company as big as Google, how hard it is to build something like that? My data is there, you only need to:
Well, the day you can do that, just shut up and take my money 谷歌

1 年> OK ChatGPT, summarize that post: `The author has been using ChatGPT to save time and improve efficiency in tasks such as researching, summarizing, and analyzing text. The author's company has recently switched to a platform called Coda, which has a ChatGPT pack, as a result of the model's power. The author has also been using Google Assistant for the past 6 years and finds it limited in supporting work tasks compared to ChatGPT. However, the author appreciates the features of Google Assistant such as reading emails and sending reminders. The author feels that they are immersed in the Google ecosystem and switching away from it would be a change in routine. The author imagines it would be a no-brainer to pay Google for the same capabilities as ChatGPT if it pulls data, improves conversational ability, presents results in a more user-friendly manner, and secures data privacy. The author concludes by saying that if Google can do all of this, they should "shut up and take my money."`
