What is the Camber Variable Base Curve?
People often ask how the Camber? front surface is different from a single vision (SV) lens, so let’s look at the two and compare them side by side. The SV blank has one consistent base curve on the front side -- in this example, it is 6.5 Diopters from top to bottom. By contrast, the Camber lens blank has a patented, variable base curve that increases steadily from top to bottom.
So check it out: through the center, the base curve in this example is 6.5 Diopters. However, when you move upward from center, you’ll see that the base curve becomes slightly flatter. Likewise, when you move downward from center, you’ll see that the base curve becomes slightly more curved.
