What Businesses Need To Know From COP27
In this special edition of Now You KnOW, we share the key insights and announcements from our delegation on the ground at the first week of COP27, where we hosted, attended, and moderated panels, discussions, and events.
Succinct takeaways
"Understand your role in the system and really work as a multiplier, where are you uniquely placed to add value and how can you make a difference?" Lisa Quest, partner, co-head of the public sector and policy practice, Europe.
"Is it about commitments or implementation? It's both and we aren't doing enough of either, really it is about scale." Simon Glynn, partner and co-lead, climate and sustainability.
"When setting net-zero targets it can be difficult to take the first step but it's important to do so; it's a new concept with data gaps but that doesn't mean you can't take the first step and iterate." Jenny Tsim, partner, corporate and institutional banking, Europe.
"We are never going to meet the climate goals unless we tackle nature at the same time." Christopher Johnstone, partner, finance and risk, banking, Europe.
"The financial sector really needs to help finance the climate transition and that's a big number, with plenty to be done, but there are many people working on the challenge." Ilya Khaykin, partner, finance and risk, Americas.
"We are not relying solely on governments to make progress, a number of private sector and civil society organizations have also come here really wanting to keep energy and momentum high." Sayli Chitre, principal, finance and risk and public sector, Europe.
