What Is Biomimetic & Why Is It Changing Robotics?

Have you ever asked yourself how far engineering can go in terms of robotics? The perennial answer seems to be further ahead!

Though we have watched plenty of sci-fi movies or TV shows—Westworld and Blade Runner come to mind—where robots mimic us, looking almost the same as we do, interacting with the world as we do, and doing the same daily tasks we do; it is almost unavoidable to have inner thoughts about the possibility of getting that far. And, at the fast pace things are going, the prospects are truly viable.??

?And what tech is enabling it to be a reality? None other than biomimetic!?

Biomimetic refers to the development of novel theories and technologies that emulate the models and systems of nature to solve unthinkable processes in a speedy time. The transfer of function from biological science to engineering promotes emerging research across many disparate disciplines.

Recent advances in biomimetic intelligence and robotics have gained great popularity in recent years, and studies will continue growing stronger. Even now, institutions like MIT run exclusive labs dedicated to expanding knowledge in the field.?

Biomimetic robotics are designed with biological characteristics and functions to be applied in different scenarios. A clear example of this is the CLONE technology. An advancement used to develop artificial human muscles and create a humanoid that can help regular folks, like you and me, with our daily chores. Besides humans, they also mimic animals, like the Robirds or Robobees. Robirds are used to enhance aviation safety. Robobees are for climate monitoring and to conduct biological research. Pretty interesting, right??

I strongly recommend you look into it furthermore. The research and progress going on will blow your mind!
