What the best websites have in common
Kim Scotland
Crafting WordPress websites for mission-led, service-based businesses that blend strategy with stunning design
This week I'm talking about website goals.
Last year I was invited to a friends house for a post-Christmas shindig. As often happens at these things, the conversation turned to work.
This is a snippet of how the conversation went:
Them: "What kinds of websites do you build?"
Me: "I build websites for purpose-led, service based, small businesses"
Them: "That's very specific, surely a website's just a website, right?"
No, my friend, it isn't.
I?mean anyone can knock up a website and get it out there on the internet, in that sense a website is a website.
But the very best websites are the ones with clear goals and a strategy to achieve those goals.

When you have a clear aim in mind when you create or redesign your website it makes the task a lot easier for you.
And your visitors will find it a lot easier to pay you too.
If you've just read this and are thinking "OMG Kim, my website doesn't have goals", you're not the first and won't be the last person who thinks it.
All is not lost, you don't have to go away and scrap your website.
What I recommend you do is to have a think about your business goals right now. Then head over to your website and be honest, does your site reflect those goals?
If you answered yes, then awesome, but if not then you probably have some work to do.
With a new year just around the corner there's lots of goal setting and resolutions in the air. If you know your goals for Q1 are very different the ones you have now, your efforts would be best spent updating your website your goals for next year.
If all of this went completely over your head, I have something FREE to help that I'll be announcing later this week so keep your eyes peeled for that!
