What is the best way to get your next 100 SMMA clients?

What is the best way to get your next 100 SMMA clients?

So, you own an SMMA or some sort of B2B service based business, and you’re looking to get more clients without spending thousands of dollars and learning how to run complex ads?

I’ve got the answer for you.

This is a strategy that:

It’s not:

  • Posting content endlessly on YouTube, Twitter, LinkedIn and hoping for people to magically book calls with you
  • Wasting thousands of dollars running ads on FB, YouTube, or LinkedIn.
  • Relying on referrals from past clients/random people.

But before we get to the strategy, why can you even trust anything that I say?

Here is a video going over how we generated $24,000 for one of our clients within 6 weeks running cold email for his real estate cold calling offer:

So... what's the strategy?

This strategy includes the best of all worlds - fast, inexpensive, reliable.

What’s the strategy? Cold email outreach.

Now before, you click off the video rolling your eyes “oh, another guy saying that cold email actually work in my niche…” - just listen for a second.

I’ve scaled my agency to past $10k MRR in under 5 months SOLELY relying on cold email.

It’s not only worked for me, it’s also worked for my clients:

  • creating sales opportunities with BMW, Jaguar Land Rover, Berkshire Hathaway companies, Jets.com, and more.
  • generating $24k in LTV within 6 weeks in the real estate cold-calling industry.
  • a lot more examples of this strategy working (check out more case studies here)

So, let me give you a surface-level breakdown of why cold email outreach is your best option to grow your SMMA in 2024.

We’ll be taking a look at these 3 factors to convince you it’s the best option:

  1. Cost
  2. Time to see results
  3. Reliability

And we’ll be comparing it to other popular options that you probably have on your mind:

  1. Paid ads
  2. Organic content (YT, Twitter, LinkedIn, etc)
  3. Referrals/networking

Paid ads vs. Cold email

  1. Paid ads are more expensive. You need to test with a minimum of $1k a month for it to be worth anything to your agency.
  2. Will probably take the same amount of time as cold email if done correctly. 1 month to sign your first client is a reasonable estimate for both methods.
  3. If you’re running ads, you are at the mercy of the platform you are on. Also, FB ad account bans are common. Cold email accounts can last for months and months at a time if used correctly.

  • Cost = cold email wins.
  • Time to see results = similar.
  • Reliability - cold email wins.

Organic Content vs. Cold email

  1. Organic content basically costs $0 to create - but it does take a LOT of time to make good. Depends on what you value more, $$$ or time.
  2. Organic content takes centuries to work (not actually). It took me ~3 months of posting on Twitter to start seeing a few lower-quality leads come through and book sales calls. Realistically, unless you are making INSANE content, it’ll probably take 3-4 months to get a source of leads that you can count on.
  3. Even once you start getting inbound leads, it won’t be a reliable source of income - especially if you want to build a business that you can count on. Remember, you aren’t a full time content creator - you’re a business owner that has to take care of sales, service delivery, etc. You can’t just record videos and write tweets all day because you need to generate leads via organic content.

  • Cost = content is free; it wins.
  • Time to see results = cold email wins.
  • Reliability - cold email wins.

Referrals vs. Cold email

  1. Referrals have zero up front costs, which is nice. Most of the time, a percentage of the sale goes to the referral partner which can be a decent amount, but it’s once the money is in your pocket already.
  2. If you are just starting out and are a few months into running your agency, chances are that you won’t have too many people who trust you enough to refer clients to you. Referrals start coming in once you start getting some solid client results or been in the game for 6+ months.
  3. They aren’t reliable at all. You never know when your next lead is going to come in - can cause unnecessary stress and uncertainty.

  • Cost = referrals have no upfront costs
  • Time to see results = cold email wins.
  • Reliability - cold email wins.

We see that there is a clear winner…

Not only is cold email the most reliable option, it’s also moderately inexpensive ($500 for a beginner campaign) and you can see results relatively quickly. (1 month)

Now, if you’re looking to get started with cold email for your SMMA, you have two options.

Option 1: learn to set up the email accounts, build lead lists, write scripts, validate lead magnets/offers, keep an eye on deliverability, manage responses to get back to prospects in under 15 minutes, and take care of it yourself.

Option 2: book a call HERE with us to see how we can do the entire process without you lifting a single finger and you just have to show up to the pre-qualified sales call. Oh, and you only pay for qualified sales calls (yes, there is a set up fee).
