What is the best form of learning? My take on the workshop

I have tried several options of learning at the age of the remote era. Below are a few of those -

  • Books Reading
  • Reading from documentation
  • Watching from Udemy, Coursera, Youtube etc
  • Attending Workshop

I have preferred to read from books as that is the best possible way to learn. One can speed up the reading when needed, one can slow down if it is difficult, one can indulge in thoughts in between reading. There are so many advantages of book reading. But recently I attended a 7-day workshop on "Content Writing" by Devika R Gupta. I got to know about this workshop from Anubha Maneswar. She is the founding director of Girlscript foundation and the workshop is organized by this organization.

Now I will come to the point on what I learned from the workshop -

Mentor :

Mentor has vast experience in most kinds of content writing. These were the things I learned from her -

  1. What I like most about her is her vast experience in this area. So many things she showed us, which cannot be easily found in books. This normally comes from practical experience. I got to know a few tools which will save me months of time. I wish I would have known a few years back.
  2. She was never irritated by questions from the mentees. She always smiled and answered every question possible. Even if she does not know the answer, she asked the audience to answer those. This is one of the biggest advantages of a workshop. One cannot learn only from the mentor, she can learn from everyone. The two way communication made the workshop more engaging.

Attendees :

I got to learn many things from attendees as well.

  • The vast majority of the audience was either college students or early in their careers. I am astonished by the curious minds of this generation. They were asking hundreds of questions in each step. I learned so many things from the question itself. Answers of those added some extra value. One of the curious questions was -

Who writes scripts for Prime Minister and how to write this?

I had to google it to know the answer. Even I got the answer directly from the PMO office itself. This is how one should learn. A curious mind searches in google or in books and gets the answer. I cannot reiterate enough that these curious minds will build the future of India.

To summarise it was a wonderful experience in this workshop. I learned so many things. It is a different experience than reading books, watching tutorials etc.

What's your take on this? Please let me know in the comment section.

Be it reading from books or watching tutorials or workshop all serve their purpose rightly. My opinion is to accept learnings in all forms. If one doesn't work, choose another but keep learning!
