What is Behavior and Organizational Behavior. Why its important and a hidden treasure.

First things first, lets start with the wiki definition -

Behaviour (American English) or behaviour (Commonwealth English) is the range of actions and mannerisms made by individuals, organismssystems, or artificial entities in conjunction with themselves or their environment, which includes the other systems or organisms around as well as the (inanimate) physical environment. It is the response of the system or organism to various stimuli or inputs, whether internal or external, conscious or subconsciousovert or covert, and voluntary or involuntary.

and Organizational behaviour (OB) is "the study of human behavior in organizational settings, the interface between human behavior and the organization, and the organization itself.

Next, lets learn something new for today (not for all readers but…) Chinese Proverb.

a. To see things in the seed, that is genius -Lao Tzu. 

b. Don't judge each day by the harvest you reap but by the seed you plant.

Now let’s go back and relate this sayings to the topic we are discussing; Behaviour is a vital in both the cases of an individual and as an organization because, it is an action or a reaction or a multiple action or result in more action. Why I am stressing this is simple because it is very important to nurture and cultivate the right thoughts in any individual and through organizations as it will lead to a constructive path, growths, success and mainly to retain talents (the right seed). So going back to have "the ability to see things in the seed" is excellent.

As from the proverb we can understand that a right or good seed can tomorrow become a source for more good seeds and hence forth that single seed can be a treasure and give you a harvest after some wait and remember that the harvest is something which depends on the seeding you plant. Organizations are very similar to this situation; good people make good organizations and grow with that and make that stand out from the crowd and are perpetual. This thin difference can make any organization to be a treasure in the market and timely rewards is the nurture and investment you can extend towards reaping a crop tomorrow.

What is the lesson learnt here? people as "seed" is the crux of growth story for any organization.

It's very important for Managers & Organisations to identify potential (esp. untapped) of their resources. Strategic positioning of such resources can lead to better results.
