What is the atomic diffusion?

Arrangement of atoms, interatomic bonds, amorphous structure, crystal structure defects, solid solutions and atomic diffusions play a role in the internal structure of materials.?

So what is the atomic diffusion?

?

ATOMIC DIFFUSION

As the temperature rises, the thermal vibrations of the atoms increase and some of them change. In this event called atomic diffusion or diffusion, first the atom jumps from one position to another in the structure it is in, breaking its bonds with the earth's surroundings, then it passes through the interatomic spaces and reconnects with its surroundings in the new position. The activation energy required for all this is a property of the diffusion system and can be measured experimentally.

?

Diffusion also occurs in pure metals containing only one type of atom, this is called diffusion. The movement of atoms can be observed experimentally by means of radioactive monitoring in basic metals. In alloys, when the concentration is different, the internal structure change can be easily observed. Usually, since atoms radiate from the region of high concentration to the region of low concentration, there is a clear difference over time in their number per unit volume at a given location.

The first method is empty lattice corner diffusion and requires a relatively low energy.

?

Neighboring atoms around an empty lattice corner existing in a crystal lattice have the same probability of skipping this empty corner. If the atom to the left of the empty corner jumps here, the first position of the jumping atom will be the empty lattice corner if the atom to the left of the empty corner jumps here. Thus, as the atom moves from sof: to the right, the empty lattice corner also moves from right to left. In this way, the empty lattice corner, which is constantly displaced, can rise up to the surface of the crystal. The second method is the motion of the interstitial atom by passing between the atoms present in the lattice, this is called interstitial diffusion and requires quite high energy. The third process, called public broadcasting, is unlikely to occur, but rather difficult. Atoms that are in contact with each other can move at the same time and in the same direction and replace each other. Since this type of emission requires great energy, it can only occur in regions close to the melting temperature.

ATOM MOVEMENTS AND ATOMIC DIFFERENCE

Events such as solidification, precipitation, recrystallization, grain growth and processes such as welding, soldering, cementation seen in materials during production and application are largely dependent on the movements of atoms in the mass. Movements under the influence of thermal energy occur in two different stages.

The first is the small vibrational movements of atoms around their equilibrium positions with the thermal effect, and the second is the long distance movements that they make by jumping from one equilibrium position to another with the same effect. This latter is called atomic diffusion or diffusion.

As a result of atomic diffusion, the structure of the object and therefore its properties change.
