What is the ASME B16.11 Threaded Fittings?

Threaded connections may be the earliest method of connecting pipeline systems. Similar to socket welded pipe fittings, threaded fittings are commonly used for small-diameter pipes with a nominal diameter of DN50 or less.

The size of cone pipe threads is specified in ASME B1.20.1. This standard specifies the dimensions of thread count per inch, pitch diameter, and engagement length for pipe threads.

Threaded fittings are commonly used in?Plumbing, Fire Fighting System, and Industrial Cooling Systems.

Threaded pipe fittings typically include Gray Cast Iron or Malleable Cast Iron, Cast Brass or Bronze, Forged Alloys, or Carbon Steel materials.

The threaded fittings specified in ASME B16.11 have three pressure classes: Class 2000, 3000, and 6000.

NPT thread

The threaded fittings in ASME B16.11 standard use NPT thread, which is the cone pipe thread in ASME B1.20.1, and is the most commonly used mechanical connection and hydraulic seal thread. The internal and external threads of NPT have a taper and are sealed with PTFE tape or sealant.
