The questions I get asked most often are: What is Animal Consciousness and What Gifts Do Animals Have?
Most people love animals because they are expressive, offer us lots of love and most importantly they are loyal and non-judgmental.
WHAT IS ANIMAL CONSCIOUSNESS?
The Wikipedia definition of animal consciousness is: Animal consciousness, or animal awareness, is the quality or state of self-awareness within an animal, or of being aware of an external object or something within itself.[2][3] It is a key subject in the discussion of animal rights. In humans, consciousness has been defined as: sentience, awareness, subjectivity the ability to experience or to feel, wakefulness, having a sense of self, and the executive control system of the mind.
In My Experience: Animal Consciousness in my world is huge and when you are speaking with animals of any shape or size, you begin to realize that they are completely conscious. They all have personalities and experience humor, sadness and offer wisdom that many humans don’t have because they are connected to their souls and the earth in ways we are not.
Most humans are disconnected from their hearts due to technology – phones, tv, iPad, a busy lifestyle and not connecting with nature to ground themselves.
In 2012, a group of neuroscientists signed the Cambridge Declaration on Consciousness, which "unequivocally" asserted that "humans are not unique in possessing the neurological substrates that generate consciousness. Non-human animals, including all mammals and birds, and many other creatures, including octopuses, also possess these neural substrates. It also stated "near human-like levels of consciousness" have been observed in the grey parrot.
Now that we know animals have consciousness, the question then becomes – How can we support them and even more interesting is how they support us.
GIFT #1 – THEY CAN TAKE ON OUR PHYSICAL & EMOTIONAL PAIN
Everyone knows animals are loyal, loving, and non-judgmental. Did you also know that they can take on their owner's emotional or physical ailments to support us?
As we go through life, we all have losses, ailments and health issues. What I see time and time again, is the animal’s willingness to help us by taking on our negative energy themselves to ease our pain.
Whenever I had a migraine, my animals helped me by laying on me, taking away any negative energy they could. Size does not matter here, only the intention.
I recently spoke to an equestrian who had broken his ankle - and then all of a sudden, his horse came up lame – on the exact same side of the body. In this case, that was no accident. Most of the time, the horse or animal is trying to help the human by lightening the load and taking their pain.
You will see this in dogs and cats when they have the same or similar injury as the human.
This tells us there are definite CONSCIOUSNESS and AWARENESS by the animal regardless of size or species.
Everything is ENERGY. If you are a negative person and are always frustrated, angry, or upset – all of that negative energy is in your electromagnetic field which both humans and animals feel. Your pets will also get ill from all your negative junk, so it’s highly important that you try to stay happy, free of FEAR, ANGER, FRUSTRATION so that illness can be eliminated.
GIFT #2 – WHEN ANIMALS PASS ON, THEY REMAIN CONNECTED AND OFFER US MESSAGES OF LOVE & HOPE
Have you ever lost a pet? For instance, if you lost a dog, and then when you decided to get another dog, the dog that chooses you has the same look or same mannerisms of the dog that passed had?
That is no coincidence. You see WE ARE ALL ONE. WE ARE ALL CONNECTED and when your animal passes on, they will either reincarnate into another animal, or they will send their consciousness to another animal so that particular animal will resonate with you.
My dog Cookie passed away recently, and we had a very strong connection. I rescued him and he followed me wherever I went. After he passed, I had a lot of guilt and still miss him terribly.
Since he’s been gone, he has sent me so many messages through other animals.
For instance, my totem is a Hawk (a totem is a personal power animal that resonates with your soul). I was feeling really down missing him and all of a sudden, I saw a Hawk. It was a personal symbol to me that Cookie is ok, he is still here with me and we are only separated physically, not spiritually.
Being able to speak to him after the transition has been so heart-warming, as he is always sending me messages of love. He recently told me there is another animal that is in a more desperate situation than he was when I found him, and that I WOULD KNOW HIM WHEN I SEE HIM BECAUSE I WILL SEE COOKIE.
GIFT #3 – THE GREATEST GIFT ANIMALS OFFER US IS ACCEPTANCE OF WHO WE ARE, JUST AS WE ARE
Animals do not care what your exterior looks like. They don’t care how fat or thin you are, what kind of clothes you have or where you live. They are only concerned with your heart and soul.
They care about how you treat them, treat others and treat yourself.
If you struggle with a lot of negative self-talk, often when I was angry or down, my dog and cats would come up and snuggle next to me as if to say – “that’s no way to talk to yourself. Be light Julie, think happy thoughts, you are an amazing human”.
Remember, they see the good, bad and the ugly at home when no one else is watching. They accept us and DON’T EVER JUDGE US. That is a lesson all humans need to learn.
We look on the exterior and immediately judge someone – they only see the soul.
