In this week's blog post, I delve into a dark (potentially depressing) place and discuss how the digital analytics industry would deal with a worst-case scenario - a completely anonymous, cookie-less world...

1 年I’m looking forward to a world where all users are anonymous. Great article Adam!
I would say that calling a user "anonymous" can be contextual. After 25 years in the digital analytics space I have learned the cat & mouse game that is unique user tracking will always be there. And no, that isn't a challenge to the mice.

1 年Well written as always as always Adam Greco. My take is to rethink how we identify. As Matthias already pointed out there multiple ways to identify something. I would take it to this level: a product, a campaign, an account, a segment can identify events. This is not a natural way to track things at the moment. But there are ways to achieve that.

1 年Hi Adam Greco, great insights on the challenges the digital analytics industry faces with increased privacy concerns and regulations. I'm curious if you've considered Media Mix Modeling (MMM) as a potential approach to address some of these issues, given that it relies on aggregate data and historical trends rather than individual user-level tracking. Furthermore, do you think Self-Reported Attribution (SRA) could gain more popularity as an alternative method for marketers, as it respects user privacy and relies on voluntary input from users? It would be interesting to explore how these approaches could complement the strategies you've already mentioned. Keep up the thought-provoking work!
