What All Freelance Trainers Need To Learn

Hello everyone!
Hope you’ve had a great week! ??
Mine has been a whirlwind of activity! Lots of one-to-one Zoom calls, great people on my 'How to Secure Associate Work session', and an inspiring talk from Karen Skidmore on 'Ebb and Flow' for my Trainer Talk members.
Oh, and I just launched a new Facebook group exclusively for my TTTC clients! ??
I’ve also been dealing with annoying little black flies buzzing around my office – and face!
I feel like I’ve been constantly swatting them away and having to explain to people why I’m waving my hands around so much. ??
One even flew right up my nose in the middle of a Zoom call - lovely! ??
A lot of people I talk to often tell me they wish they'd realized sooner just how important it is to learn about marketing.
I totally get that.
It's one thing being a good trainer - able to improve team performance, facilitate workshops or improve someone's presentation skills.
But when it comes to being a?successful freelance trainer?- a trainer who is constantly and consistently in work, has a regular income stream and enjoys life when you are physically not at "work" - you need to have other skills. ??
Yes, you have to be able to effectively deliver the training programmes that you win (after all, if you don't deliver the results your client is expecting - you won't be asked again!).
But if you're not confident in your ability to go out and win the business in the first place, then sadly you won't be using your training skills that much. ??

Developing your business and marketing skills can be far more critical to your success as a freelancer, than developing your actual skills as a trainer.
There are plenty of training programmes out there to help you become a better trainer but just make sure you are putting the same, if not more, investment in your business and marketing skills.
And don’t worry—I’m here to help you with that!
Ultimately, it is these skills that will help you be a successful freelance trainer. ??
Reply back to me and let me know how you feel about marketing and what you're planning to do to get better at it.?

5 个月THank you Sharon Gaskin?? this is so helpful. I'm saving it for later so I can go over it in detail.

5 个月Thank you for this post Sharon. Funnily, I have been thinking and talking to people about my current marketing skills and methods and how I can develop and improve them. I've always felt that I'm no good at marketing or probably not consistent with doing it. I find it laborious and boring. Though I do understand the importance of it. Outsourcing it is an option I have considered. ??
