What AI doesn’t solve for digital product development

The ChatGPT and general AI hype has been pretty loud over the last month! And there’s more than a bit of speculation about how AI will disrupt software development, including low-code and no-code. I think ChatGPT is a revolutionary platform. I’m excited (and a wee bit terrified) about how it’s impacting everything from education to tech to creative practices.
But there are some areas in digital product and app development where current AI will complement humans rather than replace them. Certain aspects of software development, particularly when creating new digital apps and platforms, may only be partially replaceable by AI.?
A few of these areas include:
Creative problem-solving
AI may be able to automate many tasks involved in the application development process, but it may still be difficult to replicate human creative problem-solving abilities.
Innovative user experience design
While AI can assist with developing certain user interface elements, it may be difficult to fully replicate the human intuition and creativity that goes into designing a great user experience.

Business analysis and strategy
AI may assist with certain aspects of business analysis and strategy, but presently it is unlikely to fully replicate the human ability to understand and analyze complex business problems and come up with creative solutions.
Communication and collaboration
AI can assist with certain aspects of communication and collaboration. Still, it is unlikely to fully replicate the human ability to work effectively in a team and build strong relationships with stakeholders.
These areas are critical for us at Noodl. In addition to being a full-stack low-code platform, our foundation is built atop the principles of problem-solving, empowering creative teams, and accelerating business decisions. These are the problems we’re solving, and AI will complement our approach.
Our users can already easily integrate their preferred AI libraries, and we’re currently building our new AI plugins and examples for our community to try.

1 年I'm looking forward to having AI help me solve problems, not solve the problems for me. Ai to get started or get me out of creative blocks, Ai as a bouncing board when i need a second opinion or Ai as design critique when i need to up the quality.

1 年Key point is for humans to focus on the high-value stuff. Unfortunately, if you're a designer who has only invested in learning one tool to move pixels around, probably you're in trouble. If you have complimented the delivery part of your work with the problem solving, strategic, and creative skills development probably you're going to excel in this new era. I'm currently working on this directly...sitting with your friends in Gothenburg. :) BTW, I wrote something similar last month...er, actually Chat GPT-3 wrote it (and Dall-E provided the cover photo): https://www.dhirubhai.net/pulse/emerging-domain-ai-tools-ux-design-allen-smith/?trackingId=ZT5q7x0QzGY8O3PCM5uOYw%3D%3D

1 年Great points James! I am especially interested in the last part about how we collaborate and build relationships (inside of organisations) with and through AI generated content. It seems there is a significant risk that over usage and reliance on AI in communications and processes could hamper rather than foster creative discussions and interactions by isolating team members from each other.
