Over the past several weeks I've been blabbering on about my upcoming 60-Day Book Marketing Bootcamp
.
But what does it actually entail? Who is it a good fit for? How is it actually going help authors?
What's included:
- Each Monday at 12 pm Eastern there will be a 60-min live lesson, where I'll be deep diving into the week's topic (see all topics below). These lessons will teach you best practices, provide unique insights, share relevant examples, all to help you gain a greater understanding of book marketing and start to think about how to apply it to your book and author brand.?
- Following the live lesson, I'll give you a weekly "homework" assignment. The intent is for you to start building your marketing strategy and exercising your new marketing skills in real time! You will have digital worksheets that you can fill out online OR that you can print and keep at your desk. At the end of the 8 weeks you'll be able to put all of these materials together in one cohesive marketing plan.
- Each Friday at 10 am Eastern there will be a live 60-90 min Q&A call, where you can seek feedback on your homework assignments, and ask any marketing or publishing questions you have! These calls give you direct access to a book marketing and publishing expert, so you can feel confident in the plan you are putting together. In my opinion, this is the coolest part of the program and the part I'm looking forward to the most.
- Most weeks you'll also receive bonus downloads (think tutorial videos, templates, etc.) to help give you a boost in your marketing expertise.
Breakdown of topics covered:
- Messaging - this lesson will help you think about your target reader in a brand new light, and give you a springboard for the rest of the bootcamp.
- Social media - this lesson will cover best practices for the various platforms, talk about what type of content is working, and provide you with examples to inspire your social media strategy.
- Email - this lesson will explore what content you should be sending out to your subscribers, show you how to use automation, and provide insights on how to grow your email list.
- Marketing Plan Format - this lesson will dive into the various stages of a marketing plan and explore what tactics fall into the different phases.
- Advertising - this lesson will teach about the different advertising avenues, best practices for each, and break down what kind of budget you might need to get started.
- Community, Influencers, Reviewers - this lesson will help you think about how you can lean on your network for promotion and know what to ask for, and share the best practices for reaching out to influencers and reviewers for promotion.
- Metadata - this lesson explores organic keywords and categories, how you can refine your keywords, and what to avoid so your book gets more visibility.
- Long-term Planning - this lesson will cover how you can play the long game with your book promotion so you can have consistent success.
Who should be joining:
- An author who is planning to launch a book between Sept 2024-Feb 2025 and wants to put a marketing strategy into place so their book launch leaves no stone unturned
- An author who released a book within the last few months and didn’t do any marketing or promotion, but is now realizing they need a strategy to break beyond friends and family
- An author who is in the writing stage, but wants to understand how and when marketing plays a role in their publishing journey
And then to get even more specific:
- An author who has had the thought: "I don't know what I don't know."
- An author who is ready to roll up their sleeves and do the work
- An author who sees their book or author brand as a business and wants to invest for long-term success
- An author who is tired of searching the internet for different ideas and wants to learn everything they need to know in one place, with an expert guiding them along
How it can help you:
- For starters, you are going to learn a lot. It's the best response to the age-old problem of "I don't know what I don't know." This program will teach you in depth about book marketing strategies that will help your book get more exposure. Each week there is a new topic that I’ll dive into, so you have a deep understanding of how you can begin to implement that strategy for your own book or author brand.
- You will be encouraged to start implementing. Each week you’ll have homework and worksheets that relate to the marketing topic we discussed. This homework is meant to encourage you to start building and implementing your marketing plan in real-time! This program offers a certain accountability that ensures you stay on the path and actually do what you need to do to reach more readers. Because if you're anything like me, no accountability means it doesn't get done.
- You will get personalized support. In addition to the live teaching calls, there are weekly live Q&A calls where you get direct access to ask me anything. You can ask questions about your weekly homework, you can ask for help brainstorming promotion ideas, you can ask general publishing questions, you ask for help troubleshooting areas where you’ve been struggling with marketing, and the list goes on. The bootcamp registration is capped for a reason! I want to make sure that the authors who join get the opportunity to receive personalized support.
- You will learn what you need to do to level up. If you’ve ever wondered what sets successful authors apart from the crowd, I believe a marketing strategy plays a large role. When you can master your marketing you will level up your skills and be able to reach more readers with your book(s)! The bootcamp ensures you have what you need to get started.
The important details
Price
Let's get price out of the way because it's the biggest roadblock. A spot in the bootcamp is $1,600. You can pay all at once or choose to do 4 payments of $400.
Before you write it off, consider a few things.
- You can choose to look for these same strategies and teachings elsewhere for free on the internet (and you might find them), but it will cost you time and energy, and it might leave you more confused and frustrated than ever. Get the clarity and personalized support in the bootcamp.
- It's likely that you've invested a lot of time and maybe even financial resources into your book already. Without a marketing strategy your book likely won't make it past the realm of family and friends. You will feel discouraged and defeated, maybe even to the point that you give up on the book altogether. Be proactive and stay one step ahead with what you learn in the bootcamp.
- There are 16 hours of live Zoom calls. If you do the math, that is $100 per hour of live guidance and support. (And this doesn't factor in the value of the worksheets, downloads, tutorials, etc.). This is rare to find with a publishing pro who has been in the industry for 8+ years, and when I see it written out like this I feel like I've sold myself short lol.
Dates
First day of the bootcamp is July 15 and we are jumping in right on the first day at 12 pm eastern with our first live class.
The last day will be September 6 and we will conclude with a live Q&A call that Friday at 10 am eastern.
This lines up perfectly for an author who is planning to release a book in fall 2024 or even early 2025!
Group size
It's important to me that the bootcamp still has a personal feel. For that reason, spots are limited! I want to give the authors in the group the opportunity to ask their questions and get personalized help. So if you're nervous about getting lost in the crowd, you will 100% have a voice and it will 100% be heard.
What to do next
- If you're an author and read this email and said "heck yeah, this is exactly what I need", then join the bootcamp by clicking here
.
- If you're one of my publishing friends, would you consider sharing this program with your network? I'd be grateful for a social media post, inclusion in a newsletter, or even a casual mention in a call with an author.
I hope to see you in the bootcamp soon!
