What 6 years of writing taught me

As I wrote the headline, I was amazed to know myself that it's been 6 years since I first started writing.

What started off as a simple experience sharing post is now my whole life - I've never felt this strongly about anything in my life. I always thought of writing as something I wanted the world to know about. Funny enough, I moved on to doing this more for myself and inspiring others, less to impress the world.

The journey hasn't been all a road of roses - I've had days when I felt extremely demotivated to even do the simplest of things and days when I felt like I was on top of the world. What stayed constant was I still wrote, no matter what.

Our passions have a unique way of teaching us something about ourselves, and these 6 years of writing taught me this:

  1. You don't do something for everyone: I had this idea in my mind of being liked by everyone, only to realize that not everyone is meant to resonate with your passion. If you can do it despite that, you're good to go.
  2. It makes you smile on days when you don't feel like it: I've had days when I felt like a complete failure; but my writing made me smile for all the work I put in to make this wholesome.
  3. You'd want to give up but something will not let you: There have been times when I felt like this was a waste of time. But on these days, every time I went back to those messages I got for the post that made someone's day, it made me never give up. Ever.
  4. It can be your greatest strength: My writing gives me strength. How? It's so similar to our lives - the highs, the lows, and the in-betweens. We somehow find our way through and go back to what really matters.

I may not be the best writer out there, but it's safe to say that I might have made your day or made you smile at some point.

I've always believed in being together in this journey. It's not easy for anyone and it will never be. My writing has made me more confident, worthy, and made me believe in the power of going after your passion.

What's yours?
