What is 5G Heterogeneous Network ?
5G Communication uses a high frequency for communication. This high-frequency signal travels for a lesser distance in practice.
To overcome this problem, the researcher came up an idea calle heterogeneous networks, where the network operator deploys multiple a transmitters (i.e. base station) in practice to cover a large geographical area as shown below.
These multiple base station (i.e. macro, micro, nano, femto) are classified based on their transmitting power. As shown in Figure, we have one macro base station in the center and 4 micro base stations are deployed to cover a large geographical area.
In this situation, the user equipment may have multiple connectivity with one or more base stations. However, it chooses a base station which has the higher signal strength.
Ankur, but is this not how 5g by default is supposed to work? Coordinated multiple radio bearers
