What 5 words?

I was recently asked this question ... what five words describes the top characteristics that you think are an indicator of success for new people in your role? Here's my attempt. What's yours?

  1. Clarity. Having a structured, logical, MECE thought process and bringing that analytical rigour to our work.
  2. Growth. The world we shape doesn't have to be a zero-sum game. In order for me to win, it doesn't necessarily require another party to lose - there is a space somewhere that we can grow in a sustainable fashion. But we must all have the same growth mindset to seek it.
  3. Resilience. I want other team members on my team to have the same passion for the work, as occasionally we don't get the results that we were hoping for. Having the grit to bounce back is important. One thing I coach my martial arts students is to: acknowledge your mistakes, as they can be a great source of learning. So it's paramount to have grit and courage to pivot to another strategy and try something different.
  4. Humility. Acknowledge that you won't always have the answers, and that it's OK to seek guidance from others.
  5. Empathy. The main goal of a leader is to serve, and in order to best serve one's constituents, a leader must empathise with a broad group of people and galvanise action. Without empathy, a leader risks being a dictator, rather than a mentor. Without empathy, a leader risks
