There are instances where you feel that you are not valued. This is the juncture where you think of adding more value to yourself and creating more opportunities. It’s absolutely essential to add more value to create more opportunities. When you add more value, you become more visible as well.?
As an executive, you must create impact and influence. Apart from your executive presence, what you do to create impact and be an influence really matters. The 4 levels of value in the marketplace for executives we are discussing in this newsletter edition require certain level of competency in different skills for you to move forward in your career.?
What happens if you do not create an impact and influence ? You will be stagnant in the same position for a long time and there will be no career progression.?
Here are the 4 levels of value in the marketplace?
2. Unification -?This is the stage where you become a Senior Manager or a Team Lead. You are the unifier at this juncture. You start managing at this stage. You are either managing people (People Manager), projects (Project Manager) or processes (Process Manager). This is a phase you ask yourself “How do I get to the next level ?”
Implementation and unification are the 2 lowest value in the marketplace. As an executive, these are the opening stages of your journey to the top leadership. Unification ranks bit higher than implementation.?

3. Communication?- This is one of the most powerful skills you can possess and one of the most essential skills in your path to become and executive or leader. Communication is a higher level of value compared to implementation and unification. At this stage, you get fiscal responsibilities. At a Director position, you have a bigger role to play in terms of fiscal activities. You are more involved in the core function of the business and less involved ink tactical work. It’s a crucial aspect of the business. As an executive or a leader one of the skills that will propel you to the next level is communication. You have the opportunity to provide consultative recommendations. The question you ask yourself at this stage is “How Do I Get Ahead ?”
4. Imagination?- Imagination is the highest level of value in the marketplace. This is where you use critical thinking skills, innovative skills, creativity. It’s about thinking, thinking and thinking. Imagination and communication create impact and influence. At the highest level, it’s all about the impact you make and your ability to influence. You imagination has no limits, therefore, it’s of utmost value. You have commit yourself to open your mind.?
Being open minded as much as possible will give you the edge over the others.
These 4 level of values in the marketplace, will give you an idea as an Executive as to where you are currently and where you need to go.?
