What’s the state of hiring in 2024? ??
There’s been a lot of headlines already this year about tech layoffs. Wayfair, Brex, Google, and even the historically-strong Microsoft have laid off employees or announced they will be (if you’ve been impacted by a recent layoff or know someone who was, please check out our open roles ).
But...we’ve also seen our clients extend offers to candidates this year, and others are posting new roles and quickly moving candidates through interview processes.
Our advice to candidates: if you’re job searching, consider smaller to mid-size companies. Early stage, high growth companies that don’t have to show short term profitability are a great place to find roles right now.
Our advice to employers: there are some amazing candidates on the market right now that we didn’t see last year. They’re energized, ready to try something new, and make an impact after a few tumultuous years.

The most desirable seniorities right now are...
A couple days ago we asked our followers which levels of seniority they’re hiring for. Answers were fairly split across categories, with close to a third of respondents looking for mid-level talent, quickly followed by a desire to hire junior and senior talent.

We’re predicting that as companies restructure more and more in 2024, we’ll see more senior & executive candidates brought in to lead teams. And as new companies start to launch their product, they’ll need senior teams to come in (we’re hiring for a lot of founding engineers right now).
