What will 2015 Bring?

It's a very common time of year to be retrospective, and I'm not immune. I like to take stock of the previous year but more look forward to the next. As a technology professional and a geek, sometimes my thoughts go to "What cool toys will come out this year?" But experience has shifted my focus to realize that toys, or delivery devices (phones, tablets, bands, glasses, etc.), are fleeting. You can always find a cooler thing-a-ma-jig the month after you bought that latest and greatest. But you cannot do anything unless someone is serving up the content to your cool new iSamWinoid device.

Most of you know I work for Microsoft, some of you know I do something with developers. But most of you probably don't know that my group helps companies with developers work better on the Microsoft platform. I've been associated with this group in one way or another for over ten years and I am very proud to be part of it. If you're trying to serve content up in 2015 from the Microsoft Platform my team, Microsoft Premier Developer, could help you. You have a bunch of Windows 2003 apps that you need to migrate, curious about Azure, trying to get that last custom feature in SharePoint implemented, need to make your ecommerce site run faster, want to use TFS better, wondering if there's options for one code base on iPhone, Android, and Windows... if any of that sounds familiar that could be us too.

To level set using a metaphor, "We teach you to fish, you do the actual fishing." We teach you how to do things better, give you advice, get the examples to you, coordinate resources to solve a problem, introduce you to new concepts,... your team still does the actual work. We have customers that spend about $50k with us (our starting point) to multi-millions... and all points in between. If you need help "fishing" (i.e. writing the code), I know people that could help with that too, but that's not what my team does.

We have done some amazing things for our customers over the years, and why not do that for my colleges and friends too. So true...the device is just the delivery vehicle...it's the solution that matters. As cloud becomes more and more of a dominant force in how solutions are delivered, we see more of our clients resources directed toward building solutions that drive their business forward. It's an exciting time and an exciting place to be.
