What 2 Million Views Has Inspired Me To Do - Thank You!
(as posted on my re-launched Facebook page)
Inspiration can come from different things that totally surprise you, that's what's happened to me this last week. The universe (yes I believe in this stuff as those of you close to me know - I love positive energy and feed of it) is speaking to me. What it's saying is up for translation but I feel it's saying I need to get back to utilizing my gift for being able to put a spotlight on stories, people that don't have a platform for their voice and should be heard, stories that can impact, make a difference, real honest stories that make us better people, this a better world, stories that have a learning lesson we can all grow from.
Thanks to social media along with my time on TV, I have a platform. I have an amazing community that I thought I'd lose once I left TV and focused on a not so high profile career, did I lose you or are you all still there?
I'm excited to see if you are still there, I'm sure you've grown like I've grown and I'm sorry I stopped giving you this gift of shining spotlights on your stories. It wasn't because I didn't want to do it, I just had other focuses, life focuses. Big things important to making me who I am today, having a few babies, launching some start-ups, learning how to be an exec, lead a team. Oh how leading a team changes you, the pressure of being relied on by a team, a growing team, who needed the company to succeed so their families could succeed. This last few years has been bigger than just me and I focused everything on it.
Now I'm ready to find some balance. I'm not going to give that part of my life up, I LOVE learning, I love working, love leading a team, love helping startups thrive. But I am going to work on balance and spend a portion of my time on giving back, experimenting to see if the community that I loved so much, the army that would do so much good for each other for the causes they believed in will follow me again on this journey to shine a spotlight on the voices that so desperately need to be heard and can inspire us all to see the world different and impact those around us in a positive way.
Why now? Inspiration and my father.
I posted about my dad and how I felt about his life on linkedin, something magical happened. More than 2 million people viewed that post, more important than view is the 1000 plus people who commented, as I read every comment I feel more and more I want to be a part of contributing content that impacts.
I don't know exactly what that means or what that looks like, but it's inspired me to launch my Facebook page again, start thinking about bringing back my podcast. Are you all still there? Will you all be the amazing army you used to be or have you all grown from this in your own way (which is ok too).
Even if only one of you follows these posts (most likely that'll be my mum) that'll make me smile and I'll be more balanced so this experiment to start up the content machine will be worth it.

7 年I would love to follow your posts and your projects. I also want to help share the stories of people whose voices aren't often heard (I recently created a podcast focused on that goal). Your post about your father resonated with me -- especially when you said that his LinkedIn profile would be pretty bare but his life was so full. We are so much more than resumes, profiles and soundbytes, and I'm excited to support anyone who helps share the real triumphs and struggles that make us human.
