What are the 10 Best Moments in your life so far?
(And why you should think about them right now).

What are the 10 Best Moments in your life so far? (And why you should think about them right now).

This is something everyone should do. Today.

Think about the 10 Best Moments in your life so far. Write them down.

They could be either personal or professional. Doesn’t matter. They are your moments. The moments that still resonate with you. Could be massive achievements in your career or something much smaller that became deeply significant to you. The moments that changed you for the better, fulfilled you, still mean more to you now than perhaps you ever thought they would. They could be from decades ago or from last month.

Don’t just write down each moment. Write down why each one matters to you. People have many good moments in their life. Why are these your 10 Best right now?

When you are done, take a good long look at your list. Some of you will have more personal moments than professional, some will be the other way around. Again, doesn’t matter. They are your moments.

What does matter is how these moments all came about. In most cases, you will find these 10 Best Moments of your life didn’t just happen: you made them happen. Of course there will be the occasional serendipitous event or tremendous lucky break that falls into your lap. Those will be few and far between.

The majority of your best moments will have more than likely been generated by you, your desires and your determination to make them a reality. You might find the moments that mean the most to you are the moments that took you the greatest efforts to achieve.

The world of late seems to be consumed by negativity. There is a disproportionate focus on the bad moments in life and all the blame, fear and bitterness that go with them.

So do this today. Write down the 10 Best Moments in your Life and why they are so. Keep them somewhere that you can look at them every now and then. Remind yourself that it was you that made most all of them happen.

And then go make more of them.

Marty. I love this. A great way to look at all the madness. And I saw Stephen make a note about DeCarlo. Man, some of my best times in this nutty biz was with him. So damn talented and we had so many laughs.

One of the best (in all seriousness) was the day I took my portfolio around Boston and people liked it. And you're right: that wasn't random. But damn, it was fun. And now I'm thinking about DeCarlo. What a talent.

Love it, Marty. One added dimension: how many of those moments involved the joy of others? Seems so many great moments involve being "a man for others." Thanks for the reminder.
