What Is The #1 Enemy Of Success?
You will either never be able to guess it, or you’ll deep down already know.
From my experience working with dozens of entrepreneurs, there is always one common enemy to productivity.
And the worst part is that this enemy is with you 24/7. You always need to know where it is and you always want it around you.
We basically treat this enemy as our closest friend.
The thing is… it CAN be a great friend.
It’s how we use it that makes it an enemy.
In other words, it’s an enemy of ours, but only if we make it so.
Unfortunately, it’s INCREDIBLY easy to fall into the trap of making it an enemy of ours and of our goals.
If you haven’t figured it out by now, I’m talking about your phone.
It’s just a neutral tool. It’s how you use it that defines whether or not it’s beneficial to your life and to your goals.
The first thing you need to realize is that pretty much everyone has a phone. And pretty much everyone has a smartphone nowadays.
This means that, for huge corporations, there’s a HUGE market of users that they can INSTANTLY come into contact with through smartphones. More specifically, through apps and notifications.
Obviously, in a super capitalistic society, this means that you could almost be seen as the prey while the big corporations are the predators. Except, instead of wanting to eat you, they just want your money and/or your attention (because it can bring them money as well).
Big corporations exist with only one intent and purpose: to profit as much as possible. They don’t even have a choice. Any company that has stocks being publicly traded on the stock market is under?tremendous?amounts of pressure to always profit more and more each year.
This means there are/were millions of dollars at work to figure out how exactly they can get people to be hooked to their apps.
It means that millions of dollars were literally spent on psychological research to learn what kind of tricks and strategies can get a human being to stay "stuck" on their phone.
In other words, big corporations profit from your attention. They profit from taking your time away from you.
The thing is if you’re spending your time and attention on your phone helping these corporations make more money, guess what you’re not doing?
You’re probably not making money for yourself
You’re probably not working on your goals.
You’re probably not making enough time for your personal life.
You’re probably not engaging in regular healthy habits.
The truth is if you’re on your phone, you’re probably not paying much attention to anything else. Because your phone holds all of that sweet dopamine human brains are so hooked on.
You almost can’t stand a chance.
Except you can. Because, no matter what psychological tricks are thrown at you, at the end of the day you ALWAYS have 100% of control over yourself.

If you want your right arm to move left, it does. In the same way that works, you can also put your phone down.
You can also learn to force yourself to not spend more than 2 hours a day on your phone. (You can track your activity. Just find it in your phone’s settings)
And you can also stop yourself from scrolling on social media.
Just think about it for a second.
If I were to ask you “Why are you on social media?”, I’m sure you’d come up with a lot of reasons.
But quantity isn’t quality or, in this case, importance.
So, instead of looking at how many reasons you can come up with, see if you can come up with a significant reason.
Even without ever having met you before, I feel very confident in saying that you’ve never thought to yourself “Oh my god. That was AMAZING. I LOVED IT” after spending 30 minutes scrolling on social media.
And that’s because it’s an experience with no fulfillment.
It’s an empty experience. It’s cheap and mindless entertainment.
So, please do yourself a favor if you’re ambitious: get used to living without constantly checking your phone.
If you have that habit, you’re just inviting constant interruptions and distractions into your life.
Where do you draw the line?
Try to create some sort of structure for yourself. Define clear rules for phone usage and then FOLLOW them. If you need inspiration, get the book “Deep Work” by Cal Newport and read the chapter called “Quit Social Media”.
The truth is, if you consciously use your phone as a tool for success instead of a tool for quick mindless entertainment, then?you will feel like you have a superpower.
Suddenly, you’ll look all around you and notice people (especially the younger generation) looking like zombies attached to their phones.
You’ll start to notice a lot of people don’t even watch where they’re walking, they’re just staring at their phone’s screen. You’ll also notice a lot of people can’t have a conversation without looking at their phone.
So stop waiting. Start developing your new superpower TODAY!
Here is a quick tip for you to begin your new journey: From now on, make sure that your phone is OFFLINE for the first and the last hour of your day.
You’ll wake up feeling more focused and you’ll go to bed feeling more relaxed. That means NO INTERNET connection. The goal is to avoid having notifications when you wake up and before going to sleep.
Just try it for a week and see how you feel!
Wish you the best of luck on your new journey.
Never stop hustling & never stop dreaming,
