• More foreign investors, especially from the United States,?are entering the European football industry?after considering it an undervalued market.
• At the same time,?new ownership models are changing the governance landscape, where the multi-club ownership model stands out.
• Fan engagement has become a strategic priority for the industry. This especially holds true for being able to connect with the GenZ sports fan.
• Emerging?AI or web3-related technologies?are providing a glimpse into what the future may look like.
• Of course, we could not forget about “The World Cup of first,”?in which Argentina won a tournament marked by?sponsorship controversies, the optimism around African football, and the expectations to keep growing the game in the Middle East.

This?has also been a “year of first”?for World Football Summit:

• Sevilla welcomed a selected group of industry leaders for Football innovation Forum?on the day of the 2022 Europa League final.
• The?city also hosted its?first WFS Europe,?becoming?the global capital of the football industry for 48 hours.
• The?first-ever WFS Africa was successfully celebrated in Durban, South Africa.

Now, it is time to make 2023 an even better year and, together,?keep shaping the future of the football industry.

We have offset our?carbon footprint for WFS?Europe

For the first time ever, WFS Europe became?a?carbon-neutral event with the help of?ClimateTrade?as our Sustainability Partner. The firm?calculated a?carbon footprint of 385 tons, which has been offset through a?project which consists of the implementation of renewable energy plants?in Brazil .
