WeWork hits bottom

Office spaces aren’t working out for WeWork. The coworking company, which has seen movie-worthy mismanagement and a pandemic shift to work from home, officially filed for Chapter 11 bankruptcy this week. After peaking at a $47 billion valuation in 2019, WeWork was worth less than $45 million ahead of the announcement.

Striking actors reached a deal—and won job protections from AI. SAG-AFTRA announced this week that it reached a tentative agreement with Hollywood studios, winning better wage hikes, streaming residuals, and definitive lines around the use of artificial intelligence. But people behind the screens—musicians, visual effects artists, and more—are also facing a similar occupational existential crisis.
