We’ve learned that doing less work makes you more productive IF you keep an eye out for this key problem

Helping entrepreneurs surpass 12-week targets by turning productivity into a computer game | Co-founder of Winpact
Motivation can be a blessing or a curse when it comes to productivity.
Too little and you’ll never get anything done.
Too much and you’re at risk of overcommitting and getting the same result.
We see it nearly every time a new player joins the game at Winpact.
We help them break down their vision into an ambitious list of 12-week goals.
They kick off their first few weeks of the season with some of those goals on their Winpact Scoreboard.
And then the software shows them the reality.
They’re not hitting their weekly targets.
There are multiple reasons why this can be the case.
The data produced from the software helps us with the diagnosis.
And when it comes to the problem of taking on too much at once, there’s 1 behaviour we look for to help us solve the problem:
Sacrificing progress in one area to make progress in another.
Then, as soon as they drop the right activity or goal, everything changes.
The grass gets greener on the other side of doing less.
But this brings on another opportunity.
What if we automated this type of diagnosis?
And automated the recommendations of the best solutions?
Let’s see what happens.

3 个月This is really great. I notice the same patterns even when just doing housework on the weekends. The start of the weekend is filled with good intentions about what is going to get done, but inevitably things take longer than estimated, extra tasks not accounted for become a priority, and we have to determine which of the original goals we can drop in order to get the most impactful or pressing tasks done. Looking forward to reading the follow-up to this one, as automation of this triage process sounds interesting!

5 个月I'm definitely guilty of taking on too much, feeling burnt out, and then not even completing the things I've taken on. Then comes the disappointment and being hard on yourself phase. ?? It's so important to be productive rather than just being busy.
