We've Forgotten How to Love
When our thoughtfulness
becomes reactivity.
When our prayers become a fight.
We reach for fuel for anger.
And fail to see the light.
We justify our positions.
Fair treatment for ourselves.
We fail to see the real debate.
They are not wrong,
and we are not right.
What happened to our willingness.
To understand the Truth.
Our humanity defines us.
Our universal plight.
We lift our eyes beyond ourselves.
To see another person.
You had it wrong; you were not good.
Constrained by views of life.

3 年Thank you, Tami, for stating the issue of love straightforwardly. It is too easy, even in a loving relationship, to forget how to love, to take it for granted, and forget the need tot keep building through acts of love, small acts of consideration, of thoughtfulness. That is, to build love. However, to state it more strongly is also important, and to do that your writing needs to be more particular, more specific, more sensory, as in appealing through sight, hearing, touch, smell and taste. Evoke particular experiences to give substance to your thoughts. In a nutshell, turn your thoughts into poetry. That is why poets so often stress image.
