West’s support of wounded veterans means so much?

I was wounded in service and am now paralyzed from the waist down. Today, I am the CEO of?Wounded Warriors Ability Ranch (WWAR), one of West Florida’s capstone charities.??

The relationship between West?and WWAR started in 2016.?Katie Dean, from the West Team?in St. Petersburg, contacted us?and asked us to come and talk?to the management team about?our new nonprofit. They?decided?they’d?like to support?our work.??

Our first event together was a?softball game between some of?our veterans and a team of?West employees who are also?veterans. It was our first ever?adaptive sports event and a?huge success.?

One-year West team members?collected for our Veteran?Christmas Families. We were?able to share the amount?donated with over 20 families.?We even took six veteran?families to Disney for a?weekend. Incredible. One of?these was?Sua’s?family.?He’s?a?US Army veteran from Hawaii,?he was so moved by this gesture?he presented us a "Thank You?Book" of what the WWAR?Christmas Donation meant to all?the families. It was touching to?read all the comments.?

The team members at West are?passionate about giving and?have always had our back.?Through their generosity,?we’ve?been able to start an Adaptive?Wheelchair Rugby sports team?which now competes nationally,?and?we’ve?built an adaptive?needs park. Pinellas Park offers?facilities for wheelchair users?and can be used for adaptive?sports events that veterans and?their families get to enjoy.??

THANK YOU from all of us. We?are?ever grateful to West, for?everything?they have?done for?us.??
