The West needs a plan 'B'

Plan ‘B’

It is time to face some facts about Justin Trudeau’s grip on power starting with some unpleasant truths.?Thanks to Trudeau’s enablers, Justin Trudeau is immune from any consequences for his actions, no matter how bad, until a future election that is years away. Those who think getting rid of Trudeau will fix everything completely ignore the fact that Justin Trudeau reflects the will of his enablers all to well, and that reflects a far deeper problem than Trudeau himself.

?All political parties with federal aspirations are helpless and useless to do anything about Trudeau’s excesses. They are all dependent on the next election whose timeline will be dictated by Justin Trudeau himself. Until then, they are all engaged in an extended membership drive while trying to look like they are relevant.

?So, we need a plan ‘B’ that does not depend on Trudeau’s enablers showing integrity or the various opposition parties showing initiative. I believe that the place to start is with a future election that Trudeau’s enablers know they will have to face but have cozy safeguards in place to minimize any threats to their positions and unearned pensions.

?Trudeau’s battle plan for the next election is predictable. Canada’s political right are a fractured mess, and after years of repeating the same message, that message will become stale to a rightfully jaded population. The Liberals will gleefully pit one right wing party against the other while giving Jagmeet Singh shallow promises to ensure the NDP continue their long tradition of being the Liberals main enablers. Trudeau will then do what he has always been allowed to do, set the tone and agenda of the election. He is confident that he can do this because when people talk about election reform, they miss the obvious fact that it is the structure of the election process itself that needs to be reformed.

?A federal election is theoretically the one time where the average citizen can publicly confront any politician on any issue. The problem is that the entire process is geared to minimize the impact of the public to such an extent that it is virtually impossible for the real public to have any impact whatsoever. We are given the impression of involvement, not the reality. This is accomplished because the entire process is being controlled by those who do not have the spirit of Democracy at heart.

?Look at the structures of any federal election that the public have to work with starting with town halls.?The venue, the moderator, and the limited time that the public are allowed at the microphone are all dictated by unelected people who see public participation as an inconvenience. The agenda is set, not by the locals, but by unelected, unaccountable people who have an agenda that does not reflect the interests of the locals. If the moderator is a card carrying Liberal, which has happened, then this person is well placed to frustrate the member of the public at the microphone with timed interruptions. The rules, which are created by political gatekeepers, limit any participation to a few minutes which is more than enough time for a polished politician to deflect criticism. The limiting of time at the microphone is a deliberate tactic to creating a zone of discomfort for people who are not used to public speaking sparing the most politically inept politicians from having to face accountability.

?Then there is the agenda of the election which is again set by unelected gatekeepers. Issues like Western autonomy, Liberal scandals or even the terrible state of health care are all issues that can and will be downplayed as lacking significance by unelected gatekeepers. It does not matter if the election is taking place in the heartland of the West, it is the shadowy hand of political gatekeepers who are deciding what the election is about in our own territory. This is happening because when we talk about political reform, the very structure that we have to work with somehow slips under the radar. It is like putting a precious cargo on a truck owned and driven by your mortal enemy. He is going to do everything in his power to hurt the chances of the cargo being delivered, so why are we letting him carry our cargo?

??Changing the structure of the next Federal election before it happens would in effect rob the current collection of Liberal and NDP enablers of their rose-coloured view of the next election. Rather than having a vision of sun kissed fields of easy grazing, they will be faced with the haunting prospect of not having the gatekeeper’s run interference for them exposing them to the prospect of having to answer for their actions. The blind support that Justin Trudeau enjoys right now happens because his enablers do not believe they will ever have to face consequences for their support. Once we introduce real consequences, even if they are in the future, many of Trudeau’s enablers will be forced to have a sober reflection of what the future may bring. The post Trudeau era will suddenly have a bleak outlook, which might just temper most politician’s enthusiasm for Justin Trudeau.

?For Western parties changing the structure of a federal election would have nothing but positive implications. If the local population are dictating the agenda, and the interaction between voters and the politicians, then parties who have never treated Western issues as a priority will be exposed as unworthy of Western votes.?Another plus is that parties like the Green party will no longer have a 1-dimensional discussion on the environment.?The power of the left has come from their unchallenged ability to set the agenda on a host of issues.?Once they are forced to out of their comfort zone, they will lose credibility and lose unearned support.?An adult talk about the relationship between electric vehicles and the Grid to support them would easily expose that the environmentalists do not know what they are talking about.?Throw in the uncomfortable truths about Lithium mining in the Congo, and the moral superiority of the environmentalist would come under question.

?As the West moves toward the establishment of our own unique identity with the political clout to defend and nurture it, we need to create the tools to make this a reality.?The first tools we need are the ability to make Western issues a priority when federal elections happen in the West.?This means taking control of the entire structure of federal elections to suit Western needs, not eastern views of what we should be talking about. The one thing we can and need to do right now is to take the stale political gatekeepers out of the election process entirely when we are dealing with federal elections on our own territory.?If we can’t control this process, we can’t change anything.

?We can no longer allow the precious cargo of Western aspirations, to be carried by a vehicle of power driven by those who want to kill those aspirations.?We need a plan ‘B’.
