CTE Month
February is Career and Technical Education Month. It is a month to celebrate CTE, highlight CTE accomplishments and the importance of CTE for students of all ages.
West-MEC is a career technical education public school district focusing solely on innovative career and technical education programs that prepare students to enter the workforce and pursue continuing education. CTE programs provide students opportunities to earn college credit and industry credentials. West-MEC serves more than 45,000 students from 49 high schools across 3,800 square miles in the northern and western cities of the Phoenix Metropolitan area and offers seven adult education programs. It's safe to say CTE is what WEST-MEC is all about.
West-MEC's mission statement is preparing students today for tomorrow's careers. That is exactly what CTE does and West-MEC is often on the cutting edge. West-MEC works with industry to augment current programs and sometimes even create entirely new programs if there is a demand in the industry.
With that being said, happy CTE month to CTE students, instructors, workers in CTE related fields and everyone who plays a part in anything CTE related!
Power of Partnerships
Community partnerships are integral in creating a dynamic environment for West-MEC's students to learn. Partnering with local communities is a win-win scenario and gives West-MEC students more opportunities to learn and flourish after they complete their program. Check out how and why the City of Buckeye is an example of a perfect partner for West-MEC below.
SkillsUSA Competition
Earlier this month, our Construction students dominated at the SkillsUSA Region 5 competition! Our skilled and knowledgeable students from the Southwest and Northeast campuses placed in multiple categories.
