West Lothian College students contribute to the success of The Gathering 2020

Ten West Lothian College HNC Events students helped out at The Gathering 2020 last month - the biggest annual exhibition/conference for the third sector in Scotland.

Just prior to the event our students prepared information packs and helped exhibitors prepare for the official opening. Over the two days of the event our students greeted and advised over 3,000 delegates, and organised seating and registration for over sixty seminars!

Feedback from event organisers, the Scottish Council for Voluntary Organisations (SCVO), was outstanding with students complemented on their teamwork, dedication and customer service. Feedback from exhibitors and delegates was complementary and commented on positively in social media. There was also positive feedback for our Hair and Beauty students who offered treatments to delegates at the event.

SCVO organisers said: “Just wanted to say a massive thank you from Alex, Joanne and me to you and all the students – we really appreciate all the hard work put into making the event such a success! All the students were so good with the delegates, exhibitors and we’ve had so many positive comments about their professionalism, enthusiasm and energy. They worked so well together, looking out for each other and covering for anyone who needed a break. They really should be proud of themselves!!”

Lecturer Stephen Frew was also praised by SCVO organisers: “I want to thank you for everything you’ve done in guiding and supporting the students, and us, over the past few days – your generosity of spirit and sense of fun is a rare find and much appreciated by Alex, Joanne and me, as I am sure it is by all the students.”

I'm very proud of our students, under the excellent leadership of their lecturer, for helping The Gathering to be such a success!
