WA athletes with links to VenuesWest venues are continuing to shine on the world stage.
Kyle Lee has booked his ticket to Paris with a top-10 finish at the World Aquatics Championships in Doha.
He completed the 10km course in a time of 1hr:48:31.20 to finish ninth. Lee trains predominantly in the ocean and uses HBF Stadium on rare occasions, but trains regularly in the gym at WAIS as a part of their athlete program.
Also at the world champs in Doha, WA divers Maddison Keeney and Nikita Hains combined to win bronze as a part of the Aussie team in the Mixed 3m and 10m Team event.
Both are based interstate but got their start diving at HBF Stadium and train at the facility when they return to WA on occasion.
In the Water Polo, WA’s Zoe Arancini, Sofie Pontre and Gen Longman helped Australia get off to a dominant start with a 31-1 win against Singapore. The Stingers face a tougher test this evening against New Zealand, which will be broadcast on 9now from 6.10pm.
WA’s George Ford and Luke Pavillard were also in action for the Aussie Sharks as they fell 13-8 to Croatia in their opening game. They will take on South Africa tomorrow.
In Adelaide at the UCI Track Nations Cup, WA’s Matt Richardson, Sam Welsford and Conor Leahy all showed they are in for a big 2024.
Richardson was part of the Aussie team that won gold in the team sprint, while he also won individual silver in the sprint.
Welsford, who recently won the points classification at the Tour Down Under, and Leahy were both part of the Australian team that won silver in the team pursuit.
All three got their start riding at the SpeedDome.
???? Fantastic news, Kyle! ?? Paris is not just a destination; it's an opportunity to shine even brighter. Remember what Helen Keller said, "Life is either a daring adventure or nothing at all." Keep chasing those dreams and making us proud! ?? #DreamBig #ParisBound
