A Fresh Take on Training

After a recent training session, a surprising request came through: "We want more role play." For most, it’s uncomfortable, but when done right, it can lead to significant growth. My method blends fun with practical, real-time feedback, leaving teams asking for more. Here’s why this approach works and how you can apply it to your team.

Strategies That Work: Creating Impactful Role Plays

Live Guidance

Stop participants at key moments and ask the group what they noticed. This enhances learning for everyone.

?

Immediate Feedback

Don’t wait—give constructive input on the spot and encourage the participant to try again.

?

Team Effort

Let colleagues "tap in" when someone is stuck, fostering a supportive environment.

Practice Until It Clicks

Keep role-playing until your team is comfortable with the skills being learned.

?

Train at Home

Encourage practice among peers before taking new skills to prospects.

Food for Thought

When was the last time you practiced something new before presenting it? Role-playing isn't about pressure; it’s about preparation. Consider how you can create a space for your team to grow and test their skills without the stress of live prospects.

I love this! Helping team members to see the benefit is critical. Recently, I heard the phrase in relation to role play, “don’t practice with your paycheck, practice with me” ??
