Wes Hortop, Our Featured RSW for October
Hi, everyone.
Autumn is here and it is a wonderful time to look at the beautiful changing colours.
Thank you to everyone who liked, commented on, and shared my previous about Laura Kidd.
For those of you who haven’t read my other RSW profiles, here’s some background. I’ve decided to spotlight the amazing Rehabilitation Support Worker Associates whom we partner with at Bartimaeus Rehabilitation Services. They don’t often receive the public recognition that they deserve for positively impacting so many lives. Hopefully, these blog articles will change that!
Meet Wes Hortop, Our Next Featured RSW!
It is a pleasure to introduce you to Wes Hortop.
Wes has been an associate of Bartimaeus as a Rehabilitation Support Worker for two years now.
He completed his three-year advanced college diploma for the Child and Youth Worker program at Georgian College.
Wes completed three courses at Brock University with the Ontario Brain Injury Association (OBIA) and plans on taking another course in October specializing in children with acquired brain injuries.
He has seven years of experience as an Educational Assistant for the Simcoe County District School Board.
As an RSW, Wes enjoys supporting clients by taking a holistic approach to their well-being. He loves to see clients on a weekly basis get stronger cognitively, physically, emotionally and socially. Wes understands the therapeutic benefits of encouraging clients to get back into the hobbies they used to do such as hiking, fishing, exercising at the gym or ice skating.
His clients are familiar and appreciate his flexibility by being ready to show up with a bike on his bike rack, a fishing rod in the trunk and a hockey stick in the back of the car seat.
Wes knows that engaging clients in stimulating ways and not in boring routines can be more meaningful for the rehabilitation for clients.
Wes in his off time loves athletic activities such as hiking with his dog Mishka, mountain biking in Horseshoe Valley and playing ice or ball hockey. He also enjoys cruising in his boat over Georgian Bay. Wes’ motivation for getting a career into the helping field is creating a positive impact on the individuals that he interacts with.
Thank you, Wes, for the hard work and dedication you show to all of your clients.
You are a key part to our team and I look forward to continually seeing the difference you make to the lives you touch.
