Were Vaccines Approved too Quickly?

We received a number of questions from a post titled Mutant Ninja Virus Called Delta by Dr. Blanchard-Horan, which was made about a week before this post. Here's a link
Two of the most important questions we received were...
"how did that vaccine get approved so
quickly?"
&
"Is it safe?"
Where do we get our answers?
We want to provide a response using peer-reviewed support for our answers so you know they are based in facts and testing. In case you didn't study science much, peer review is when your research is reviewed by a group of your peers, kind of like a jury. Among other things, they look at the quality of the study design, if it was safely and ethically conducted, and if you would get the same answers if you repeated the experiment under the same conditions. So, if it is truely a scientific study, it has had peer review and was subjected to ethical review too. That's a group that looks at how things are done to protect the study participants. Now on to the point at hand.
Our team has worked with HIV researchers who are now challenged with COVID. We are involved in bringing the community and scientists together to discuss what is needed. So we have been paying close attention to reports from scientists.
COVID Vaccine Approval Was Quick
Okay, many of you may not know this, but one of the reasons the COVID response was so quick has some roots in HIV research. Let me try to explain how decades of research on HIV helped develop a quick response to COVID.
Here's some additional FDA information on the COVID Vaccine licensure "the COVID-19 vaccine candidate is made using a platform technology utilized to manufacture a licensed vaccine or other previously studied investigational vaccines and is sufficiently characterized, it may be possible to use toxicology data and clinical data accrued with other products using the same platform to support FIH clinical trials for that COVID-19 vaccine candidate"
Lastly, I want to point out the most recently released study about the safety of the mRNA Pfizer COVID vaccine. Apparently, the largest study yet has come out on the safety of the COVID vaccine. They compared adverse events between vaccinated and unvaccinated people. This is what they got! "884,828 vaccinated individuals aged 16 and over were carefully matched with 884,828 unvaccinated individuals"
And, "...a separate analysis was conducted that estimated the rates of the same 25 potential adverse events among 173,106 unvaccinated individuals who were infected with the coronavirus, compared to 173,106 vaccinated..."
