They Were Us
There have been many health tragedies through the millennium. One could say, and people have, that more lives were claimed in any one of a number of these events then what we are enduring today with Covid19.
If you want to shake in your boots, take a quick read here.
While true, the thing that makes this particular travesty so hard to take is the speed at which it has made a whimpering, rubbery, spiraling mess of the world populace, even in those countries best equipped to deal with it.
Reading about millions of people succumbing to the flu, or HIV Aids, or Ebola, written from a historical perspective is sobering. Knowing the names and a few words about those that were us such a short time ago and are no more due to Covid19 a deeply sobering and reflective experience, happening as it is in fast forward.
Memorial Day is the time we remember and reflect on all those who lost their lives fighting for our freedom - each of us knows the names of at least a few - it is a very personal experience.
Let's also remember this year those who have fallen and will fall in the war against the wily and willful adversary, Covid19 - and the ones they left behind so suddenly.
