As we have entered April, there has been a substantial increase in the minimum wage. Those over the age of 21 are now entitled to a minimum hourly rate of ￡11.44 up nearly 10% from ￡10.42. For younger workers aged between 18-20, the minimum hourly rate has climbed by just short of 15% from ￡7.49 to ￡8.60 an hour. This bold move by the government is set to improve the financial wellbeing of its citizens, providing a significant boost to those on the lower end of the income ladder.
