We're Humans First & here's why that matters ??

I've written and rewritten this article about 10 different times, but I guess it's very fitting as a startup since we're in constant improvement, and motion. It's also meant to be part introduction, part thought process, and part announcement, so you can see why it's hard to start!

Here at HumanFirst, as you can tell by our name, our emphasis is on people. Why you may ask? Well, that's all thanks to our co-founders Gregory Whiteside & Mathieu Rene who've had success in previous startups by making sure that the team is an essential part of the mission, if not the core. And if you think about it, it makes sense because what's a company without its people?

Why do you think there are awards now highlighting what great places to work companies are? And it's even a yearly ranking! When your people are happy and motivated, and most importantly believe in your mission, there's no stopping your business because they will fight tooth and nail to help you succeed.

That's what we're trying to build here at HumanFirst: more than a company, a family (yeah, you probably eye-rolled at that, and to be honest, before working here I would've too). But what makes our startup different, is the fact that when we hire someone, we don't care if they have a linear path they've followed to get to where they're at, if they started in Fashion and somehow found their way into tech (like yours truly). If someone's an astrophysicist or an accountant that wants to get into sales; if they learned to code in university or are self-taught. All that matters is their skills and what they're good at.

What we look for in our Humans, is: drive, talent, passion, and belief in themselves. (And of course, whether we'd like to have a beer with them or not, but that's a topic for next time ??) The rest can be taught or learned, but experience and passion are hard to come by.

All of this was just a long-winded way of saying: Hey guys, we're launching a series of articles talking about why we're so hellbent on creating a great company culture, what it takes, and also a series where you'll get to meet all of the team members through what we like to call "Get to know the Humans of Human First" over the next couple of weeks.

Every team member fits into HumanFirst like a piece of a puzzle, and they're all unique, but what I can give as a spoiler is: that they've all got some great humor, so expect some puns and great fun.
